Be Fast, Not Reckless

There’s a difference between moving fast and moving forward.

I watched a team build a tool for sales calls. The idea seemed solid, so they built as fast as they could, without pausing to test it against the reality of a sales conversation.

When they finished: the tool took 20 minutes to walk through with customers, while sales calls lasted 10. Their work was never used. Output was high, but outcomes weren’t.

The teams that sustain momentum know exactly when to pause and observe. This isn’t about overthinking or second-guessing. The pause is to check direction, read the right signal, and commit.

Fast isn’t about never stopping.

It’s about knowing which pauses increase velocity, and which risks are worth taking at speed.
